I was first licensed as a Novice while in high school in the early 1970’s but after that, was not licensed or active at all, although I always wanted to get back to the hobby. On August 16, 2018,I took and passed both the Technician and General exam and then on September 8, passed my Extra exam. I purchased a Icom 7300 and a 10-80 meter end fed wire antenna and finally got back on HF.
I always enjoyed the challenge of CW operations and since 2019, I joined the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) and obtained Senator level and WAS, DXQ and DXC recognition. My number is 19846S.
I serve as the ARES Emergency Coordinator for Illinois. I’m am currently President of the Amateur Radio Club of Mt. Vernon (ARCOM) and their VE Liaison. I am also a member of the SARA, SCAN and LEARS clubs in Southern Illinois
