Ron Walerowicz, K9SX is a United States Air Force Vietnam Era Veteran with a 50 year career both military and civilian as a professional Fire Fighter and 44 year State of Illinois Certified Paramedic. He retired from the Chicago Fire Department with 30 years of service in which he worked many disasters and high profile events. Ron also served as Fire Chief for the Village of Dixmoor, IL.
Ron has been active in amateur radio since 1968 and currently holds a (Morse Code) Extra Class License. He is a Life Member of ARRL and numerous other clubs, associations and amateur organizations, and is a MARS operator. He is a member of Central Illinois Radio Club (CIRC) in Bloomington, IL. and is an ARRL VEC. Ron serves as NCS on Friday's for the North Central Phone Net at 1200UTC (0700L) on 3.912. He is active with the NTS to pass traffic. Ron also has completed all FEMA education courses and holds a COML rating from IEMA.
Ron says, the amateur radio "bug" grabbed me 1967/68 in high school and is still with me today. I thank amateur radio for the many contacts and life long friends that I have made over the years with this enjoyable and exciting hobby.
