Is this you?

Technical Coordinator
The ARRL Technical Coordinator (TC) is a section-level official appointed by the Section Manager to coordinate all technical activities within the section. The Technical Coordinator reports to the Section Manager and is expected to maintain contact with other section-level appointees as appropriate to insure a unified ARRL Field Organization within the section.

Are you an amateur radio operator who loves troubleshooting, mentoring, and helping clubs solve technical puzzles?

The ARRL Illinois Section is seeking a dedicated, forward-thinking volunteer to serve as our next Technical Coordinator (TC)!

As the TC, you will lead a team of Technical Specialists across the state, serving as a vital resource for technical excellence, RF interference resolution, and cutting-edge ham radio innovation.

## What You’ll Do (The Mission)
* Lead the Technical Team: Recruit, appoint, and coordinate ARRL Technical Specialists (TS) throughout the Illinois Section.

* Support Local Clubs: Act as a central technical resource for clubs, helping them navigate everything from repeater coordination issues to digital mode deployments.

* Promote Innovation: Encourage amateur radio experimentation in emerging tech, including digital voice, mesh networking, satellite communications, and alternative power systems (like LiFePO4 solar setups).

* Public & Interference Assistance: Guide members and local communities in identifying and mitigating RFI, power line noise, and other spectrum-pollution challenges.

* Emergency & Technical Readiness: Work alongside the Section Manager and Section Emergency Coordinator (SEC) to ensure our state's communication infrastructure is technically robust.

## Who We're Looking For
* A licensed radio amateur (General class or higher preferred) with a deep, well-rounded understanding of radio fundamentals, antennas, and electronics.

* A natural mentor who enjoys explaining complex concepts simply—whether in person, at a hamfest, or via a regional presentation.

* An organized leader who can coordinate a remote team of specialists across the near-west suburbs, Chicago proper, and downstate Illinois.

* An ARRL member ready to give back to the community and help shape the future of amateur radio in our section.

> Why Volunteer?
"The Technical Coordinator is the glue that keeps our section's innovation moving forward. You’ll have a front-row seat to the best technical projects in Illinois, work with incredibly talented specialists, and leave a lasting impact on the hobby."
