I was first licensed as a Novice while in high school in the early 1970’s but after that,  was not licensed or active at all, although I always wanted to get back to the hobby. On August 16, 2018,I took and passed both the Technician and General exam and then on September 8, passed my Extra exam. I purchased a Icom 7300 and a 10-80 meter end fed wire antenna and finally got back on HF.
I always enjoyed the challenge of CW operations and since 2019,  I joined the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) and obtained Senator level and WAS, DXQ and DXC recognition. My number is 19846S.
I serve as the ARES Emergency Coordinator for Jefferson County, Illinois and was recently appointed as Assistant Section Manager ARRL Illinois. I’m am currently President of the Amateur Radio Club of Mt. Vernon (ARCOM) and their VE Liaison. I am also a member of the SARA, SCAN and LEARS clubs in Southern Illinois
